Adopt-a-dinosaur

Summer Reading Kick Off

Thursday, May 21
5pm-6:30pm

Come register for summer reading, adopt a dinosaur, create its habitat, and take home your new reading buddy!

Bonus! Kids can collect fun accessories at events all summer long!

Babies – Preschoolers (3-5)

Storytime is a fun, educational program that helps children develop literacy skills and a love of reading. Preschoolers will enjoy a variety of books, songs, movement activity and a craft.

STARTS – June 1st

Messy Mondays* at 5:30pm

*An outdoor storytime designed to enhance learning through sensory exploration. Children may get dirty and messy, please plan accordingly.

Wednesdays at 11am

All activities are geared for children ages 3-5 and may not be enjoyed by older or younger children.

Have fun playing 1,000 books Bingo with your little one for the Summer Reading Program. June through July, every row completed earns a sticker. The whole sheet (15 activities) earns a book!

Elementary

JUNE: Dig & Discover in the Parks

Monday, June 1 – Thursday, July 2

Educational programing bringing our library to the parks. Children enjoy a book, lesson on that week’s theme, crafts and other activities. Each week offers something new, but the same program will be available at all parks. Pick the park that works best for you and join!

Each week is the same program, no matter the park:

  • Mondays @ 2pm in Library Park, 209 E Center Street

  • Tuesdays @ 5:30pm in Totland Park, 701 Roosevelt Ave

  • Thursdays @ 11:30am in Madison Aquatic Center & Park, 1001 1st St NW

*Children 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Monday, June 15th 4pm-5pm

Special performer: Noise Guy! 

All fun, all noisy with plenty of comedy for all ages.

JULY: Dig & Discover in the Library!

Cool off during the hottest parts of the summer by joining us to dig and discover in the library. These come-and-go events will spark the imagination.

Mondays at 2pm 
Wednesdays at 5:30pm

July 6 & 8 – Exploring Science

July 13 & 15 – Jurassic Stones

July 20 & 22nd – Fossils Find and Fun

Garden Club (All ages)     Starts Wed June 3 at 9am

Join us every Wednesday morning, 9:00-10:00am, to learn more about gardening, while taking care of the library garden.
(meets into August)

Lego Hour (3rd & Up)     Starts Wed, June 3 at 11am

Meeting every Wednesday for one hour, Lego Hour is the opportunity to free build, tackle building challenges, and socialize.
(Last meet up July 29th)

TEENS

Every book read earns a ticket.

Read a book and stop in for a scratchy where you have a chance to earn a book, raffle ticket, a munchie, or a prize from “The Box”.

Graphic Novel Book Club

Starts: Tuesday June 3 at 2:00pm

Meeting every Tuesday thru July, we discuss books, engage in a variety of activities and enjoy snacks!

June

Teen Craft Hour – Thurs, June 11 at 12pm

Create a whimsical planter using a simple plastic dinosaur toy, paint, and an artificial plant. Join for crafting and socializing.

After Hours Nerf Nite – Thurs, June 25th at 7:30pm

Friendly competition and fast-paced games take over after hours, you bring the foam dart blaster, we’ll provide the darts.

July

Teen Craft Hour – Thurs, July 9 at 12pm

Bring in a book or another small item to bling it up and bedazzling it out. Library will provide all the rhinestones and glue! Join for crafting and socializing.

Painting and Pasteries – Thurs, July 23 at 6:30pm

Enjoy pastries while following along to a guided paint project.

sponsored by the Friends of the Madison Public Library

Thursday, June 4
Check-in at 6:00 PM | Dash at 6:30 PM
Starts & ends at the Madison Public Library (209 E. Center)

Registration includes a t-shirt*, medal, and $5 Patio Party ticket.

Cost: $25 per person OR $5 with a Summer Reading pledge
Payment accepted by cash/check at the library or on event day.

*need to register before May 25th to get a t-shirt by the day of the Dash.

Patio Party @ Gaylen’s Gourmet Popcorn, 7pm-8pm
Ice Cream, Drinks, & Community.
